On January 1, 2004 we had exceptionally nice weather for NW Iowa, 48
degrees F and SW winds 10-15MPH for the maiden flight of my scratch built
camera rocket. This rocket uses an AIPTEK Pencam controlled by Rob Nee's
AYUCR PenCam controller.
Out of 26 photos taken by the rocket most were nothing more than pictures
of the field. Here are the best photos out of the 26 taken.
After arming the AYUCR Pencam Controller and
AIPTEK Pencam the Camera Rocket
launches on a cluster of 3 C11-5 engines.
Recovery - booster (lower) and payload drift
back to earth under chute
Here are the pictures
taken by the rocket ...
First photo from the rocket as it launches...
2nd photo - nothing but sky...
3rd photo taken during ejection - see the 'dog
barf' flying out of the rocket...
4th photo shows my pickup
truck parked on the gravel road near launch pad - notice booster in lower
right corner. Booster and payload come down under separate chutes...
5th photo shows launch pad,
my son, my wife and me - this photo taken as
rocket drifts under chute to
